Being your authentic self in the workplace can be challenging, especially if you work for a company whose culture expects you to be a certain way.
Not to mention we all have different roles to play at home, at work, and with our friends. At this time, people are finding it harder to separate work and home lives. Being authentic goes a long way and can be the key to a successful career and the proper work/life balance.

Being your true self shows honesty and trustworthiness, two traits that are highly admired at work and in our personal lives, especially in a world where the majority of us are working remotely. When you choose to be open with colleagues, it makes them want to be open with you and creates an open line of communication. These relationships can help you get your job done more efficiently with the help of your team and creates a pleasant work environment.

Staying true to yourself and your values will attract a career that you enjoy. If you enjoy what you do, you will feel more motivated and that motivation will create success.
Being authentic builds your personal brand.
Having an identity or a personal brand is important in the workplace as it promotes one’s unique individuality. Your brand is going to define what is important to you and if you’re true to that you’ll be able to come together in team environments with your best ideas that might spark innovative solutions for consumer needs.
Confidence is built from authenticity.
Being confident is a feeling of self-assurance. When your actions align with your values, you will have assurance in yourself and your confidence will grow. Others notice it too.
Authenticity is the trait of a leader.
Being authentic can inspire others and attract them to you as a leader. People are drawn to others who are confident, trustworthy, and honest.
It sounds simple to just… be yourself, right?
For some that’s easy, for others it may take more time and some self-awareness of “who you want to be when you grow up”. That’s totally ok.
