We start with a storyline.
AVIAN courses are rooted in narrative. Early in development, we formulate a central storyline to flow throughout, bringing scope, purpose, and context to the course content (e.g., “It’s your first day on the job as an IPT lead, now what do you do?”). Anchoring to a storyline drives consistency and makes the messaging behind the content more memorable. As part of course development, a storyboard is created to ensure the course follows a logical progression, rather than just exhibiting a succession of topics on slides.

With a knack for seeing the big picture, or developing a team vision, Rich excels at leading complex projects and programs with a lot of moving parts.
As a child he loved science and believed it could make anything possible. Inspired by the space program, Rich knew early on that he wanted to be part of it. This translated into a degree in mechanical engineering, which led to an extensive government career with the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) as the Chief Engineer for the F/A-18 E/F, the EA-18G Director for Air Vehicle Engineering, as well as Navy Secretariat of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Air Programs). As DASN-Air, Rich was charged with developing and overseeing acquisition activities for all Naval Aviation and Air launched weapons programs on behalf of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy Research Development and Acquisition.
Now, Rich is using his expertise to assist NAVAIR with its transition to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and by developing courseware that will be used to teach the systems engineering workforce how to operate in an MBSE environment.
A graduate, instructor and later chief flight instructor at the United States Naval Test Pilot School, Ant has an extensive amount of experience in test and evaluation making him a great instructor for the College of Test and Evaluation.
He enjoys using good (hopefully funny) quotes related to the course material from a historical or pop-culture figure. For example, to make the point that the test planning process is more valuable than the test plan itself, Ant uses a quote by Mike Tyson: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” The point

George is a graduate of the United States Naval Test Pilot School and has more than 1788 flight hours in 23 type/model series aircraft.
His experience in test and evaluation, and as the lead for multiple Integrated Product Teams in three NAVAIR program offices, makes him the perfect candidate for development and courseware instruction of classes such as, Systems Engineering for Integrated Product Team Leads; Contracting for Integrated Product Team Leads; The Integrated Product Team Lead – The Next Step; and Financial Management for Integrated Product Team Leads.
Interaction with students while passing them practical acquisition knowledge is what George enjoys the most about teaching. When students see the value in course content and provide positive feedback, George knows he has done something right.
Kristine's position as a journalist, graphic designer, and strategic communications specialist has afforded her the opportunity to interview famous people, see an aircraft being built, go to sea on an aircraft carrier and then be catapulted off back to shore, and plan a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a training center in Hawaii.
She's had the privilege to write articles about bands touring with the USO, the aftermath of 911, someone who donated a kidney, a gentleman who was commissioned to paint for the late President George H.W. Bush and a colleague who sailed in one of the world’s top yacht races.
Kristine's attention-to-detail and ability to see the big strategic picture has allowed her to succeed in her position. "I look for consistency in design and writing that leads to cohesive branding in my products. I love being creative in all aspects of my job."
As an illustrator and motion graphic designer, Christine creates videos for AVIAN’s video production team, 7thCircus, with fully animated characters and visual effects that tell unique stories.
Her love for visual storytelling and strong background in print and digital design allow her to bring the scenes in each video to life.
One of the perks of being a project-based illustrator is the flexibility to work remote. Christine works from home with her cats, who frequently butt-in on conference calls and Skype meetings.
