Nov 4th, 2021

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. - Podcasting popularity has reached an all-time high thanks to services like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts. Since 2019, Spotify’s podcast library has grown by over 300%. So naturally, we, at AVIAN, wanted to get in on the action, and well, we knocked it out of the park!

On October 25, MarCom Awards announced winners in the 2021 international creative competition for marketing and communication professionals. There were over 6,000 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 39 other countries.

AVIAN has received a gold award in the Video/Audio, Podcast Series category for its innovation-focused podcast series, Space Shovel.

Space Shovel is one of three podcasts on the Work Awesome Network, powered by AVIAN. The podcast's goal is to build awareness for AVIAN and showcase its team’s entrepreneurial spirit.

The Space Shovel podcast is hosted by Ian Wolbert, AVIAN’s Integrated Marketing Communications Specialist, and Dan Nega, Vice President of Strategic Engagement and Initiatives.

“I am extremely excited and humbled to receive the MarCom award on behalf of AVIAN,” said Wolbert, “receiving this award not only highlights all of the hard work that was put into the production, but also the amazing conversation that came from our diverse group of expert guests.”

Each episode of Space Shovel focuses on trending topics with an AVIAN  twist. In its premiere episode, guests chatted about the LiDAR built into the newest iPhones with one of AVIAN's resident LiDAR experts, Tyler Sautter. In the conversation, the group imagines where the technology could lead in the future and how AVIAN services and consulting could make those ideas a reality.

LiDAR is just one high-tech topic discussed in this inaugural run of the series. Topics include everything from the Mars Rover, Elon Musk, new USPS trucks, and the hack on the Colonial Pipeline in the spring of 2021.

The Space Shovel series is available on all audio streaming platforms, YouTube, and the Work Awesome Network website, https://workawesomenetwork.com
