LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – AVIAN LLC was recently awarded a contract to provide unmanned aerial system (UAS) transportation management support to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

According to its website, CDOT exists to ensure that Colorado has a safe and efficient highway system by building and maintaining interstates, U.S. highways and state highways.

AVIAN will conduct UAS operations using its Pulse Aerospace Vapor 55 unmanned air vehicle and a variety of other sensors to deliver photogrammetry; electro-optical and infrared imagery (EO/IR); light detection and ranging (LiDAR); and other sensor support. AVIAN operators will fly the Vapor in various configurations to allow CDOT representatives to gather data on traffic and geohazards.

AVIAN will also assist CDOT with the development and operation of a UAS capability for CDOT first responders statewide.
