AVIAN welcomes King as new Vice President for Federal Solutions

Jul 8th, 2019

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Graduating from small business and moving into the middle markets is no easy feat. So, what makes it achievable? Drive, determination and the right people leading the way.

On July 1, AVIAN welcomed Col. (ret.) Rich King, as its newest vice president.

“We’re a growing company eager to offer solutions to new clients,” said Kevin Switick, president and chief executive officer at AVIAN. “Bringing a new vice president onboard to support our growth within new federal agencies lays another brick along that path.”

King joins AVIAN as its new Vice President for Federal Solutions.

In this new role, King will focus on leading AVIAN into new markets and scaling up its government contracting activities particularly outside the Patuxent River area. The position will focus on growing AVIAN’s services through Multi-agency Contracts and Government-wide Acquisition Contracts.

King has more than 20 years of distinguished service in the Air Force as an officer and aviator. Most recently, he served at Whitney, Bradley and Brown (WBB) in Washington, D.C. where he worked on projects for NASA, the Deputy Secretary of Defense and as an instructor for WBB’s How Washington WorksTM training program.

King is an alumnus and distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and Air Force Weapons School. As an aviator and instructor, he has more than 2,000 flight hours in various airframes.

“We have a saying here that we ‘hire talent over experience’,” Switick said. “In Rich’s case, we get both. He has a lot of great experience in the greater Federal market and has a proven record of turning concepts into reality. We’re really excited to see him at work here within AVIAN.”
