PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – AVIAN, Inc. was recently awarded a 5 year / $60M contract to provide the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC-PCD) with Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation and Engineering (RDT&E) Support Services.
AVIAN will provide the NSWC-PCD with life-cycle support to the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) fielding of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) and Unmanned Surface Vehicle Systems (USVS).
“AVIAN has long been a leader in the test and evaluation of Unmanned Aerial Systems for the Navy and Marine Corps, with a smaller footprint in Unmanned Surface and Underwater Vehicles,” said John Slaughter, Vice President of Growth Solutions at AVIAN. “This work lets us bring perspectives on unmanned systems gained from our UAS work and also our Model-Based Systems Engineering expertise to support the NSWC PCD as it fields new and innovative systems to combat the mine threat to our Navy.”
The full life-cycle support of this contracts spans from engineering hardware and software analyses, tradeoff studies, specification generation, program documents preparation, configuration management, test and evaluation event support including tech support, material procurement, auxiliary equipment shipping, supply support, maintenance support, installation, financial management support, schedule management support activities, and full-spectrum Integrated Logistics Support to include logistics planning and implementation of training and supportability philosophies and operations and maintenance support.
“Words cannot describe what this win means to our company, said Dan Lucarell, AVIAN’s program manager for UMS. “This win provides us with an opportunity to execute and build stronger business relationships, while concurrently providing a quality ‘team’ product that exceeds the customer’s expectations. A win is not a win unless it meets the goals of all involved partners – our collective team!”
AVIAN’s team is comprised of Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH), American Systems Corporation (ASC), Intuitive Research Technology Corporation (IRTC), and Orion LLC.
AVIAN has provided support for the NSWC-PCD since 2008. In 2018, AVIAN doubled its workforce in Panama City when it won a 5 year / $15M contract providing logistics support and training for current and future Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) systems and a 5 year / $26.6M contract to provide support for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Multi-Vehicle Communications System (MVCS).
